BIP-127

Simple Proof-of-Reserves Transactions.

Finished

Defines a standard way for a company holding customers' bitcoin to prove that it controls a given amount.

Companies holding coins for users have lost them without saying so. This sets out a proof shaped like a payment that can never be confirmed, signed with the keys to the company's coins, so anyone can check the funds exist. It formalises the existing method and has known privacy weaknesses.
