BIP-322
Generic Signed Message Format.
Defines a standard way to sign a message with any type of Bitcoin address, showing the signer could spend coins sent there.
The old message-signing method only works with addresses starting with '1'. This one works with any address type by reusing Bitcoin's own spending rules. The BIP notes that no signed message can truly prove someone controls funds; it can only show they will be able to spend coins sent to that address.
