Satoshi Nakamoto posted "Bitcoin open source implementation of P2P currency" on the P2P Foundation's forum, describing "a new open source P2P e-cash system" with "no central server or trusted parties". He argued that ordinary money depends on trusting central banks not to debase it and banks to hold it safely.
