PEGA Pool.
A British Bitcoin mining pool, run from Dorset by a subsidiary of PEGA Mining, which found blocks from October 2022 until it shut down in 2023 after repeated outages.
About PEGA Pool
PEGA Pool was run from Swanage, in Dorset, by PEGA Pool Ltd, a company owned by PEGA Mining Ltd. PEGA Mining mined bitcoin with its own machines in data centres in Iceland, Norway and Sweden, and said it used only renewable energy. The pool’s chief executive was David Bungay. It found its first block, 759,280, on 18 October 2022, four months before its official launch on 14 February 2023 as an “eco-friendly” pool: miners using renewable energy paid lower fees, and it said it planted trees to make up for the others’ emissions.
It paid its miners by full pay per share, or FPPS: a set amount for each piece of work they sent, whether or not the pool found a block. So each PEGA Pool block’s first transaction paid the whole reward to one pool address, and the pool paid its miners separately. These were payments to the pool’s miners, separate from the transactions confirmed inside the block. mempool.space credits it with 350 blocks; in February 2023, its busiest month, it found about one block in 90.
Its last block, 802,588, was found on 11 August 2023. By October its website said that an upgrade to take on more miners had run into problems, causing “significant and repeated patches of downtime”, and that fixing them would cost too much time and money, so it had made “the difficult but necessary decision to halt the mining poolMining poolA group of miners who share the work of finding blocks and split the rewards, so each gets paid steadily instead of rarely.’s operations”. It asked miners to withdraw their balances and move to another pool. PEGA Pool Ltd was struck off the company register in December 2025, and in January 2026 PEGA Mining’s shareholders resolved to wind it up because it could not, “by reason of its liabilities, continue its business”.

When it mined
Share of all mining over time
Weekly estimatesPeak 1.5%, in the week of 31 Jul 2023
Every week the pool found blocks, as its share of all Bitcoin mining. Estimates come from observed blocks, rather than a direct reading of the pool’s machines.

When a block containing your payment joins the Bitcoin blockchain, your payment gets its first confirmation. Later blocks add confirmations, whichever pool finds them. The pool name does not identify the sender or recipient of your payment.
