About SBI Crypto

SBI Crypto was the mining poolMining poolA group of miners who share the work of finding blocks and split the rewards, so each gets paid steadily instead of rarely. of SBI Crypto Co., Ltd., a company in Tokyo. It is owned by SBI Holdings, a Japanese financial group listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange. SBI Crypto had mined cryptocurrency with its own machines, in mining farms outside Japan, since August 2017. Its pool found its first block, 655,289, on 3 November 2020, and on 19 March 2021 it opened to other miners, from large firms to individuals. SBI Crypto’s own machines mined in it too.

Miners chose how to be paid. Full pay per share, or FPPS, paid a set amount for each piece of work they sent, whether or not the pool found a block. PPLNS+, a form of “pay per last N shares”, divided what the pool’s blocks actually earned among the miners who had done the most recent work. Payouts went out once a day. So each SBI Crypto block’s first transaction paid the whole reward to one SBI Crypto address, and the pool paid its miners separately. These are payments to the pool’s miners, separate from the transactions confirmed inside the block. SBI Crypto also ran pools for other coins; the activity on this page covers Bitcoin only.

On 24 September 2025 about $21 millionSupply cap (21 million)Bitcoin's rules halve the new supply every 210,000 blocks, so issuance slows towards zero. The total approaches 21 million without quite reaching it. in bitcoin and four other cryptocurrencies was taken from addresses linked to SBI Crypto, the investigator ZachXBT reported a week later. He said several signs resembled known North Korean attacks. On 2 October SBI Holdings confirmed an “unauthorized outflow” of cryptocurrency that SBI Crypto held as its own, but gave no amount. It said it would review SBI Crypto’s business, including possibly restructuring it. SBI Holdings also owns two crypto exchanges in Japan, SBI VC Trade and BITPoint Japan, which it said were not affected. A block found by SBI Crypto doesn’t mean the transactions inside it went through them.

On 1 April 2026 SBI Crypto said it planned to wind down its pool business by the end of July. It stopped accepting miners’ work at 22:00 UTC on 30 July 2026, giving no reason. When it announced the closure it had about 2% of Bitcoin’s mining power, CoinDesk reported. Its last block, 960,129, was found on 29 July 2026, and it has found none since.

What this means for your payment

When a block containing your payment joins the Bitcoin blockchain, your payment gets its first confirmation. Later blocks add confirmations, whichever pool finds them. The pool name does not identify the sender or recipient of your payment.

Sources and how to read the data

Background comes from the sources below. Activity comes from the mempool-compatible API used by UTXOHub. Pool names are attributed using block tags and known reward addresses; they are not proof of an individual miner’s identity and may be incomplete or incorrect.
