Proposed reusable 'payment codes' that let a sender and receiver work out private addresses only the two of them can calculate.

Reusing one address lets anyone link your payments together. Under this plan a receiver could publish one payment code; each sender would post a short notice on the blockchain once, then pay to fresh addresses only the pair could work out. It was closed after work on it stopped.
