Bitfinex is hacked
Hackers stole 119,756 bitcoin, then worth about $72 million, from customer accounts at Bitfinex, a Hong Kong-based exchange, which halted trading. Bitfinex then spread the loss across all its customers, cutting every balance by about 36% and giving them tokens as credit for what they had lost.

The value overflow incident, 2010
6 years ago. A transaction in block 74,638 created about 184 billion bitcoin by exploiting a bug in how the software added up large amounts. Satoshi Nakamoto released a fix, Bitcoin 0.3.10, the same day, and the network replaced the bad block.
