Inflation bug fixed in Bitcoin Core
Bitcoin Core released version 0.16.3 to fix a bug (CVE-2018-17144) that could have let a miner create extra bitcoin by spending the same coins twice inside one block.

Blockstream's Liquid sidechain launches
Liquid, a sidechain run by Blockstream so that exchanges and other businesses can move bitcoin between each other quickly and confidentially, produced its first block, with 23 companies as members. Blockstream called it the first production Bitcoin sidechain.
