  • UK court rules Craig Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto

At the end of a trial brought by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA), Mr Justice Mellor of England's High Court declared that Craig Wright is not the author of the Bitcoin whitepaper, is not the person who used the name Satoshi Nakamoto from 2008 to 2011, and did not create Bitcoin or write its first software. He said the evidence was overwhelming and gave his full written reasons on 20 May 2024, in which he wrote that, page for page, a witness statement by the Bitcoin developer Pieter Wuille "turned out to be the most significant document in this Trial".
