IMF approves El Salvador's $1.4 billion loan
The IMF's Executive Board approved El Salvador's 40-month loan of about $1.4 billion. Its terms included making acceptance of bitcoin voluntary, limiting the government's bitcoin dealings and purchases, and barring public debt denominated in or tied to bitcoin.

Mt. Gox files for bankruptcy, 2014
11 years ago. Mt. Gox filed for bankruptcy protection in Tokyo, saying it had lost about 850,000 bitcoins, 750,000 of them belonging to customers.
