Japan regulates crypto like stocks
Japan's parliament passed amendments that regulate crypto assets such as bitcoin as financial instruments, like stocks, rather than as a means of payment. They add insider-trading bans, clear a legal obstacle to spot bitcoin ETFs, and allow a flat 20% tax on crypto gains, down from up to 55%, from 2028.

Coldcard wallets drained through a seed bug
Attackers took about 594 bitcoin from about 500 Coldcard hardware wallets, using a firmware bug that made the devices' seeds (the secret words that back up a wallet) far easier to guess than intended. Galaxy Research later counted about 1,806 bitcoin taken across several waves.
