FTX halts withdrawals and files for bankruptcy, 2022
2 years ago. The crypto exchange FTX paused all customer withdrawals on 8 November and filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in Delaware on 11 November. Chapter 11 is the US process that shields a company from creditors while it reorganises or sells its assets.

Taproot activates, 2021
3 years ago. The Taproot upgrade took effect at block 709,632. It added Schnorr signatures and a new kind of output that reveals less about complex spending conditions, making them cheaper and more private.

The first halving, 2012
12 years ago. At block 210,000 the reward for mining a block fell from 50 to 25 bitcoin, the first halving. The software halves the reward every 210,000 blocks, roughly every four years.
