What is Bitcointalk?
The Bitcoin forum Satoshi Nakamoto opened in November 2009. Much of Bitcoin’s early history, from the pizza offer to Satoshi’s last post, happened there.
Satoshi Nakamoto opened the forum on 22 November 2009, at first as part of bitcoin.orgbitcoin.orgThe website Satoshi Nakamoto registered in August 2008. It published the Bitcoin white paper and still hosts it. Volunteers run it today., and wrote more than 500 posts there before a last one in December 2010. In July 2011 it moved to its own address, bitcointalk.org, “in order to make it explicitly unofficial”, according to the Bitcoin Wiki.
Much of Bitcoin’s early history happened in its threads: Laszlo Hanyecz’s offer in May 2010 to pay 10,000 bitcoins for two pizzas, Satoshi’s fix for the overflow bug that August, and Hal Finney’s 2013 post “Bitcoin and me”, about his early days with Bitcoin.
The forum is still running. Its long-time administrator is known as theymos.
