A Strike account, in the Strike app

Why is my bitcoin withdrawal from Strike taking so long?

Strike lets you pick how fast an on-chain withdrawal arrives: about 10 minutes, about an hour, or about 24 hours for no fee. Look up its transaction ID to see where it is.

How long a bitcoin withdrawal from Strike takes

When you send bitcoin on-chain from Strike, meaning on the Bitcoin blockchain rather than over Lightning, you pick a delivery time before you confirm. Strike gives Priority about 10 minutes, Standard about an hour and Flexible about 24 hours, and Flexible has no on-chain fee. So a Flexible withdrawal that hasn’t arrived after a few hours is most likely still inside Strike’s estimate. Strike’s help doesn’t say whether it sends a Flexible withdrawal at once with a low fee or later on. Automatic withdrawals always go this way: Strike says it sends each one within 24 hours of your balance reaching your threshold, with no fee. Strike holds your bitcoin for you, so until it sends the withdrawal, nothing is on the Bitcoin network and no block explorer can show it.

Find the withdrawal and look it up

In the Strike app, tap the Activity icon at the top right; on the web, open the Activity tab. Open the withdrawal’s receipt to see its details. Strike’s help pages don’t say whether the receipt shows the transaction ID; if you can’t find one, ask Strike in the app under Account, then Help. Paste the ID into UTXOHub’s search. The payment’s page says whether it is waiting for a block or confirmed and, if it is waiting, roughly when it will probably confirm. If the ID isn’t found yet, Strike may not have sent it; with Flexible or an automatic withdrawal, that can still be within Strike’s 24 hours.

  • A Lightning payment settles in seconds and isn’t recorded on the Bitcoin blockchain, so no block explorer can show it. Only an on-chain withdrawal has a transaction ID to look up.
  • Check the address the payment went to against the one you meant to send to, character for character.
  • Each confirmation makes a payment harder to reverse. Whoever receives it decides how many to wait for.

If Strike won’t let you withdraw yet

In the US, bitcoin you bought with a bank deposit that hasn’t settled is pending too. It shows in your bitcoin balance, but you can’t send or withdraw it until the deposit behind it settles, which Strike says typically takes about 5 business days and can take longer. Tap Balance below the amount on your bitcoin tab to see what is available and what is pending. Your own security settings can also stop a withdrawal. A custom send limit caps what you can send in any 7 days, and raising it or turning it off takes 5 days. If you turned on 2FA for sends and withdrawals, you need your code or passkey for each one, and turning that off takes 5 days too. Strike says no one, not even its own team, can shorten those waits.

  • Strike says some personal accounts can send up to $5,000 of pending funds every 7 days, called Strike Instant. Account, then Limits, shows whether yours can.
  • The custom send limit doesn’t cover automatic withdrawals.

Cancelling or speeding up a withdrawal

Strike says bitcoin transactions are irreversible, and that it can’t recover bitcoin once you have authorised a payment. An automatic withdrawal is the exception before it is sent: Strike gives you 12 hours after your balance reaches the threshold to cancel the queued withdrawal. Strike’s help pages describe no way to raise the fee on a withdrawal you have sent, so choose the delivery time before you confirm. Once it is on the network, it waits for a block like any other payment.

If bitcoin sent to Strike is missing

Tap Receive on your bitcoin tab for an on-chain address. Strike makes a new one each time the last is used, but says bitcoin sent to an older one still reaches your balance. Ask the sender for the transaction ID and look it up. If it is still waiting for a block, it is on its way. Strike’s help doesn’t say how many confirmations it waits for before adding a deposit to your balance. If the payment has confirmed, paid your Strike address and still isn’t in your Activity after a while, contact Strike in the app, under Account, then Help, with the transaction ID.

  • Strike charges no fee to receive bitcoin you keep as bitcoin. If you chose to turn bitcoin into dollars as it arrives, Strike applies a 1% spread.

Fake Strike support

A slow withdrawal is when people pretending to be Strike get in touch. Strike says it never asks for or sends you recovery phrases or private keys, never tells you to move bitcoin to a particular wallet or address, and never asks you to install other apps or remote-access software. Its emails come from @strike.me and a few of its subdomains, and include your anti-phishing code, which you can see under Account, then Security. Strike says to hang up on any call you didn’t ask for, even from a number that looks like its own. Reach Strike only through its app, its website or support email.
